Job Title: Brewer / Distiller

Job Summary:

Steel Hands Brewing is seeking an experienced, motivated Brewer / Distiller to join our production team and support both brewing operations at Steel Hands Brewing in Cayce and distilling operations at Steel Hands Vista Distilling in Columbia. This full-time, hands-on role will be responsible for supporting all aspects of beer and spirits production while maintaining the highest standards for product quality, consistency, sanitation and safety. The ideal candidate will have professional brewing and/or distilling experience, strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for craft beverage production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform all aspects of brewing and distilling production, including mashing, fermentation, brewing, distillation, transfers, conditioning, proofing and finishing;


• Operate, monitor and maintain brewing and distilling equipment safely and efficiently;


• Monitor fermentation and production specifications to ensure product quality and consistency;


• Perform cellar operations including transfers, carbonation, kegging and other production processes;


• Assist with barrel filling, barrel management, aging, blending and spirit finishing;


• Support canning, kegging, bottling, labeling and other packaging operations as needed;


• Execute proper cleaning, sanitation and CIP procedures throughout all production areas;


• Maintain accurate brewing, distilling, batch, inventory and production records;


• Assist with raw material, ingredient and finished product inventory management;


• Perform routine preventative maintenance and assist with troubleshooting production equipment;


• Maintain clean, organized and safe brewing, distilling and production areas;


• Collaborate with the Brewmaster and Ownership team on production schedules, new product development and quality initiatives;


• Ensure compliance with applicable local, state and federal alcohol production and workplace safety regulations;


• Support both Steel Hands Brewing and Steel Hands Vista Distilling production needs as required;


• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Prior professional brewing, distilling, fermentation or beverage production experience preferred;


• Experience in both brewing and distilling is preferred, but candidates with strong experience in one discipline and a willingness to learn the other will be considered;


• Strong knowledge of fermentation, sanitation, quality control and beverage production processes;


• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and troubleshoot production equipment;


• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to product quality and consistency;


• Ability to accurately maintain production, inventory and batch records;


• Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills;


• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a production team;


• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment with changing priorities;


• Flexible schedule based on production needs, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays;


• Must be 21+ years of age.
