If your interest lies in joining a progressive business with a collaborative team approach, we are actively recruiting a highly motivated and detail-oriented Buying Assistant to support our Buying Team in managing supplier relationships, product selection and inventory coordination.

This is a great opportunity for an individual with a passion for wine, strong organisational skills and an analytical mindset.

Key responsibilities within the role will include:-

  • Assisting the Head of Buying and the wider Buying Team with day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Maintaining strong supplier relationships and being a central point of contact for the Buyers.
  • Maintaining accurate product information including awards and critic scores.
  • Communicating product updates to the wider Bancroft Team including stock availability and price changes.
  • Working closely with Logistics, Marketing and Sales to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assisting the Buying and Logistics Teams to maintain the pricing spreadsheet and ensure costs are captured accurately.
  • Working with Logistics to resolve delivery issues from suppliers and with Accounts to resolve invoicing queries.
  • Assisting Marketing in organising tastings, events and supplier visits.
  • Assisting Buying and Marketing with the creation of sales offers.
  • Managing allocations for en primeur campaigns such as Burgundy.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant import and trading regulations.
  • Conducting market research and competitor analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Preparing monthly reports and analysis on sales performance by supplier along with purchasing patterns and stock levels.
  • Supporting the Buyers in sourcing and selecting new wines in alignment with Company strategy.

Skills and attributes for success in this role:-

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a buying, procurement or administrative role within the wine, food & beverage or retail sector.
  • A keen interest in the wine industry.
  • WSET qualified (Level 3 preferred).
  • European Language, particularly French, Italian or Spanish.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) essential; experience with ERP systems is beneficial.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.

This is an office-based role but flexibility can be offered to work remotely 1-2 days a week subject to operational requirements and prior management agreement.
