Established in 2014, Baythorne Wines has grown to become one of the leading wine retail destinations in East Anglia. We are a family-owned and fully independent wine merchants selling only wines, beers and spirits that we love from a beautiful premises in rural East Anglia.
We are currently recruiting a Retail and Marketing Assistant Manager to work in all areas, but with a heavy focus on customer engagement and marketing. This is an ideal role for someone looking to move up into a management role. Working closely with the business owner, the successful applicant will be expected to contribute ideas and strategies to help grow the business.
Applicants must have a passion for wine, the personality to engage with customers and a willingness to get stuck in from day one and take on any job that needs doing.
The successful candidate will enjoy a varied role, including full involvement in buying and managing our extensive range of wines, spirits and beers, overseeing stock control, planning and managing marketing campaigns and organising events.
The role is full time - 42.5 hours per week (Tuesday - Saturday as standard).
Main responsibilities include:
1. Wine shop/sales management:
β’ Serving and advising customers. Processing sales and cash handling.
β’ Planning retail promotions, merchandising and maintaining a high level of shop cleanliness and appearance.
2. Online Sales:
β’ Assisting with the ongoing development of the website.
β’ Regular updating of website content to ensure it is all current.
β’ Processing of online and telephone orders promptly.
3. Marketing:
β’ Regular content production for social media and customer engagement.
β’ Planning promotional emails to our customer database.
4. Stock control:
β’ Management of the stockroom and receiving of deliveries.
β’ Ensuring that stock levels at the shop are maintained.
5. Tastings and Events:
β’ Assisting with the planning and running of customer tasting events
Personal qualities, qualifications and experience:
β’ Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to influence and sell.
β’ Self-motivated, with a βcan doβ attitude and a willingness to work on their own and within a very small team.
β’ WSET Level 2 or equivalent experience and knowledge.
β’ Experience working in a retail or service environment.
β’ Highly competent IT skills (MS Office, web-based applications)
β’ Social media savvy.
β’ Comfortable unloading pallets of wine and lifting cases up to 18kg max.
β’ Flexibility to work weekdays and weekends
β’ Full UK driving license.
