This California-based company is dedicated to the procurement of international and domestic beer, wine, and spirits for both large and small retailers. The Accounting Manager plays a key role in managing the company’s day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting compliance with state and federal regulations. Core Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly close activities.
- Assist with preparation of accurate financial statements and management reports.
- Support the company’s external CPA with tax filings and annual audit requirements.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with GAAP standards.
Inventory & Supply Chain Finance
- Track and reconcile inventory across multiple unit types.
- Support purchase order processing and sales order documentation.
- Monitor delivery schedules and lead times to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Compliance & Regulatory Support
- Assist with brand registrations and compliance reporting for California and out-of-state markets.
- Provide documentation and reporting support for TTB requirements, including COLA and CBMA filings.
Risk Management Support
- Maintain insurance and vendor compliance documentation, including supplier Certificates of Insurance (ACORDs).
Financial Analysis & Process Improvement
- Provide variance analysis and reporting to leadership on expenses, sales, and inventory.
- Recommend process improvements to strengthen internal controls and improve efficiency.
- Assist Controller with special projects, financial modeling, and business planning.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA candidate preferred).
- Experience: 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within consumer goods, beverage, or distribution.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP; proficient in Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with alcohol/beverage compliance (TTB, COLA, CBMA) is a plus.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Ability to clearly communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial team members.
