This is a rare executive opportunity to serve as both CFO and COO of a mid-sized, family-owned winery deeply rooted in tradition, excellence, and multigenerational legacy. Working directly with the President/Owner, the CFO/COO will steward daily operations and financial strategy to elevate performance and profitability. This role oversees accounting, cross-functional business planning, and operational excellence from grape to bottle. With full visibility into production, sales, and marketing, the person hired will drive alignment across departments while preserving the winery’s artisanal values and delivering measurable business growth.

WHO WE ARE:

Dry Creek Vineyard, one of Sonoma County’s premier family-owned legacy wineries, is seeking a CFO/COO to join our incredible team! We are a collection of passionate professionals whose dedication to fine wine and connecting with others is at the heart and soul of each bottle that we produce. Now in our 53rd year of operation, we are firmly committed to a β€œNo Compromises” mentality, producing appellation-focused, terroir-driven, varietal-defining wines. We are 100% certified sustainable, and we care deeply about our wines, our customers, and each other. If our philosophy speaks to you, we want YOU to be a part of our team!

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking a hands-on, strategic executive to serve as a primary financial and accounting partner to our President and Board of Directors. This role is integral to our leadership team and is responsible for overseeing all financial functions, providing critical insights, and supporting operational decision-making. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in the wine industry, with a strong grasp of both day-to-day financial operations and the big-picture planning that ensures sustainable profitability.

This individual will work closely with senior management, department heads, and production and sales teams to align financial performance with our 5-year strategic plan. In addition to owning core accounting duties and overseeing a team of three, the CFO/COO will be a wizard at forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling, helping us evaluate business decisions with confidence and clarity.

You’re a licensed CPA with 7-10 years of senior-level wine industry accounting with a passion for making a difference. Spreadsheets and financial reports are your jam, the more elaborate and complex, the better! You are a self-motivated team player who enjoys a fast-paced environment with competing projects/deadlines. You may be looking to explore new projects and goals with a focus on revenue growth, strategy, financial controls, and helping others improve their financial acumen. Perhaps the scope of your current responsibilities is too narrow, or you’re being stifled by a corporate culture. If you’ve been in a role where you had a strong hand in driving financial performance, managing risk, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis and financial reporting, this role might be a great fit for you!

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Lead all aspects of financial management including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, cash flow, and financial reporting.
  • Partner with the President and senior leadership to drive strategic planning and align financial goals with long-term business objectives.
  • Develop and manage financial models to support business initiatives, including production planning, inventory optimization, and pricing strategies.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and industry standards.
  • Oversee accounting functions including AP/AR, payroll, inventory accounting and compliance.
  • Direct responsibility for legal, IT, Risk and HR.
  • Provide clear financial reporting and insights to department heads to inform decision-making across all areas of the business.
  • Evaluate and implement systems, tools, and processes to increase financial efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), highlighting trends and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage banking relationships, audits, insurance, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and oversee cost accounting for vineyard, winery, and bottling operations.
  • Support operational functions and help optimize the intersection of production, inventory, and sales to improve margins and performance.
