Navarro Vineyards is seeking a Seasonal Assistant Winemaker to join our team during this time of crush and harvest. This position works closely with the winemaker and owners providing information on incoming grapes, juices and wine. Depending on work load there may be an opportunity to work in the cellar.
Lab duties include:
- Grape sampling
- Analysis of grape juice (acidity, pH, sugar, YAN, tannin)
- Monitoring of fermentation sugars, tank temperature, alcohol and malic acid.
Cellar duties may include:
The operation of crushing equipment, wine presses, racking of wine and juices, operating a lees filter, preparing and filling barrels and wooden tanks, yeast and ML inoculations, additions of tartaric acid and yeast nutrients, punch downs of red wine fermentations, sanitation of cellar equipment, forklift driving and bottling line work.
This is a great opportunity for a +3rd year of Viticulture and Enology or Physical Science student thinking about entering the wine industry or pursuing an advanced degree in winemaking.
