Calcareous Vineyard is a family-owned business that has carved a name in the Paso Robles area as one of the premier wineries, providing guests with world-class blends and varieties, along with exceptional food and service on our west side property.

As the Tasting Room Manager, you will be the face of Calcareous Winery’s tasting room experience. This role requires a combination of excellent customer service, team leadership, and operational management to ensure a seamless and elevated experience for our guests. You will be responsible for leading and supervising tasting room staff, driving wine sales, maintaining the winery’s high standards of service, and coordinating experiences to create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience:

· Provide exceptional service to guests, educating them about our wines, the winemaking process, and the unique aspects of our estate. Foster an environment of hospitality that encourages customer engagement, wine sales, and repeat visits.

· Monitor guest interactions to ensure the highest standards of hospitality, stepping in directly to resolve escalated service issues.

· Monitor readiness of tasting room facilities, parking lot, restrooms, grounds, etc. to ensure an exceptional guest experience and perception.

Team Leadership:

· Supervise, train, and support tasting room staff to ensure a well-coordinated, motivated team that provides a high standard of service

· Inspires, motivates, and coaches team members to achieve sales, membership, and service goals, creating a culture of accountability and success

· Communicate sales performance and achievements to the team, celebrating successes, identifying areas of opportunity, and promptly addressing corrective action as needed.

· Ensure staffing and scheduling aligns with the business needs and supports guest flow.

· Interview, hire, and train tasting room staff

· Leads regular sales and service training sessions to elevate team knowledge, confidence, and performance.

· Provide clear direction and feedback to staff, including coaching and corrective action in collaboration with the Hospitality Manager and HR when needed.

· Mentor Leads to build leadership skills and prepare them for future growth.

· Represent Calcareous as an ambassador for the community and our wine partners.

· Respond to guest feedback ensuring timely resolution and using insights to coach staff or adjust behaviors as needed.

· Complete 90-day and annual performance evaluations for all tasting room staff.

· Cultivate an atmosphere of team-work and positive solution-oriented thinking.

Inventory Management:

· Maintain and manage inventory of merchandise, and tasting room supplies. Ensure that the tasting room is fully stocked and organized.

Operational Management:

· Oversee the daily operations of the tasting room, including cash handling, point-of-sale systems, and compliance with safety regulations. Ensure that the tasting room remains clean, welcoming, and aligned with Calcareous’ standards.

· Ensure adherence to all codes, regulations, and sanitation expectations for wine and food service.

· Respond to all emails and voicemails in a timely manner.

· Ensure all general maintenance is completed according to schedule.

· Complete daily, monthly, and annual sales reports

· Proficiency in point-of-sale systems (Commerce7 preferred), Excel, Office 365, etc.

· Assist the Hospitality Manager with planning and coordination of on-site and off-site events to promote Calcareous Vineyard.

· Partner with the Executive Chef and Wine Club Coordinator to ensure POS information is current

· Support cost awareness and fiscal responsibility while prioritizing guest experience and revenue growth.

· Review sales and club metrics regularly, collaborating with the Wine Club Coordinator and Hospitality Manager to develop and implement strategies and initiatives to meet or exceed Company sales expectations.

The ideal candidate will have the following education, experience and qualifications:

  • 3 years of high-end wine industry experience or Sommelier Level 2 certification
  • BA/BS degree a plus
  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask under pressure
  • Proven success working in a customer service and/or sales position or industry
  • Willingness to work weekends and non-traditional hours, including some nights
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Passion for people and wine
