Tasting Room Supervisor – Position Description


Status: Non-Exempt – Hourly


Shift Hours: Must be available weekends, & holidays


Pay Range: $25hr/plus bonuses


Summary


  • Responsible for the creation and implementation of strategies, setting of objectives and evaluation and performance for the Retail department.
  • Responsible for the administration of Retail training programs, establishment of standard operating procedures and addressing operational needs.
  • Responsible for instilling a culture of wine and high standards of customer service upon all wine sales staff.

Organizational Relationship


  • Reports directly to the Director of Tasting Room Sales.
  • Directly supervises all Tasting Room staff to include Shift Leads, Floor Associates, and Tour Guides.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Accounting/Finance
  • Supervise and ensure the Sales Log file is updated daily by the Shift Leader on duty for both locations.
  • Submit monthly inventory transfers for the Retail department.
  • Coordinate all wine sales from WWDC with department heads and the warehouse (transfers are conducted weekly on Mondays and Thursdays by noon).
  • Responsible for the submission of retail and remote wine inventory monthly and non-wine merchandise quarterly.
  • Product Management
  • Participate on a monthly basis on all promotional planning with the Marketing department and Director.
  • Ensure all merchandise/wine is uploaded into the system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with product ordering as needed to include liaising and establishing vendor relationships.
  • Operations
  • Assist Management in the hiring and training of all Tasting Room staff and keep them well versed in company policies and procedures, corporate culture, and service culture.
  • Create and upload monthly schedules for Retail staff into ADP.
  • Administer labor costs within the parameters set forth by Executive Management.
  • Review and approve timesheets bi-monthly and submit to the payroll department in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that a proper disciplinary environment is maintained with use of proper disciplinary protocols such as written warnings and termination forms.
  • Coordinate internal wine tastings of potential new product styles and varietals, as well as comparative wine tastings with products from our competitors.
  • Design and teach property-wide wine education classes to include Wine 101 and Wine 201.
  • Assist in the Tasting Room locations as needed, especially on holidays and busy weekends.
  • Create items and set register keys for the point of sales system.
  • Conduct tours and tastings for VIP guests including distribution partners, customers, etc.
  • Hold monthly Retail meetings to keep staff up-to-date on corporate culture and relevant changes.
  • Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate would possess excellent customer service skills, ability to multitask, and work well in a team environment.
  • Minimum of 3+ years in upper management.
  • Knowledge of Square POS system preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Payroll
  • Professional appearance and demeanor with an outgoing personality.
  • Passion for wine and customer service with a strong knowledge of wine.

Must be available 7days a week to include nights and Holidays
