Simpson Family Estates is growing and looking to bring on additional full-time cellar assistants to the winemaking team for both of our home wineries, Aurora Cellars and Good Harbor Vineyards. This is an entry, to mid-level position, in which the most important requirements are attention to detail, impeccable cleanliness, good communication skills, a positive attitude, and the willingness to learn. This is an excellent opportunity to develop a long-term career within one of the fastest growing productions in the wine industry, and gain skills across all facets of winemaking – Red wine production, White wine production, Sparkling wine production, as well as hard Cider production. As one the largest vineyard farming entities in the state our success is driven by our collaboration with the vineyard management team to shape the wine from the ground up.
Position Summary
- This role will be expected to perform all basic winery cellar operations, with a focus on sanitation. Cleanliness and organizational abilities are a must for success within the team
- Working with the winemaking staff to complete work orders and uphold winemaking standards.
- Communicate well within the team and be willing to learn new concepts. Questions are encouraged, as are fresh ideas.
- Record keeping and following standard operating procedures will be important with all daily tasks.
- Successful employees have an aptitude for learning and heightened attention to detail.
- Proficiency with basic math and verbal communication skills are preferred.
- Will be expected to operate some heavy machinery such as a forklift.
- Must be able to lift 40lbs, and operate in a safe and considerate manner.
- The position is full-time, 5 day work week. This position will work more flexible days and hours during harvest
Experience and Compensation
No previous experience is required, but is beneficial to excelling on the team, and increasing in compensation levels.
- No experience/Training: $16/hour, with a reevaluation to increase $17/hour after 3 month training period
- Minimum 1 harvest of previous experience: $17-$19/hour, depending on the roles and responsibilities within the winemaking team
